Join North Fork Arts Center and Coming to the Table North Fork for a special Black History Month screening of "Selma," Ava DuVernay's powerful film chronicling Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic 1965 voting rights campaign. Following the film, community leaders Rev. Natalie Wimberly, Village Clerk Candace Hall, and Greenport Student Faith Welch will help lead a thoughtful discussion about this pivotal moment in civil rights history.
Daughters of Judah: A Multigenerational Story of Slavery and Freedom on the East End

The North Fork Arts Center is honored to welcome historians Jennifer L. Morgan and Donnamarie Barnes for a thought-provoking discussion on their work, The Daughters of Judah: A Multigenerational Story of Slavery and Freedom on the East End. Jennifer L. Morgan (an award-winning author, a 2024 MacArthur Fellow and a professor at New York University) and Donnamarie Barnes (Director of History & Heritage at Sylvester Manor) bring their extensive expertise to uncover the hidden narratives of African American families on Long Island.

Scene Study Class (Five Sessions)
ACTING CLASS • FREE
Scene Study Class taught by NFAC Founder and Executive Director, screenwriter, director, producer and actor Tony Spiridakis, and NFAC Advisory Board Member, actor and director Georgia Ciaputa.
Learn how to bring authenticity to your portrayals through an in-depth exploration and analysis of a scene. This 5-week class is limited to 14 actors, and meets Saturday mornings, 10am to 12:30pm, March 8 - April 5, at the North Fork Arts Center.
How to Create a Story (Five Sessions)
SCREENWRITING CLASS • FREE
Screenwriting Class taught by Tony Spiridakis. This workshop will include lectures, exercises, which will result in the completion of the first draft of a short film (5 to 10 pages in length). This is for anyone who wants to brush up on the fundamentals of screenwriting. You will learn about story structure, character development, relationships and arcs, understanding the flow of scenes, and most importantly, you will have tools to know how to find a story that's worth telling. This 5-week class is limited to 10 writers.
Filmmaking 101: Your First Short (4 Day Class)

Perfect for beginners, you'll learn essential film language and editing techniques while creating your own short film using Adobe Premiere Pro. Over four immersive days, you'll master visual storytelling and shot composition, gain hands-on experience with professional editing techniques, and complete your own short film. Our small-group setting ensures you'll receive personalized feedback throughout the creative process.
Ajamu Kojo – GREAT AMERICANS: Selected Paintings (2013-2024)

Join us for the opening of Brooklyn artist Ajamu Kojo’s solo show on view February 8 - March 10, 2025. The exhibition showcases portraits celebrating Black excellence in American history, featuring the notable "A Portrait of George Washington and His Slaves," which previously debuted at the 2024 Delta Triennial. Kojo employs the Mischtechnik to create compelling narratives that challenge traditional perspectives on American greatness.
Lecture Series: Tamara Lanier, From These Roots

The North Fork Arts Center and Coming to the Table welcome Tamara Lanier for an exclusive presentation of her memoir, From These Roots: My Fight With Harvard to Reclaim My Legacy. Join us for a reading followed by a conversation with Lanier and local journalist, Liz Welch who worked with Lanier on this stunning story.
A signing will follow, and books will be available for purchase through Burton's Books.
Elf Special Screening + Talkback with Producer Todd Kormarnicki

Join us every Sunday at 2 pm for a curated selection of Spanish-language films, each with English subtitles. This series, programmed in collaboration with OLA of Eastern Long Island, highlights the richness of Latino culture and aims to bring together audiences from all backgrounds. Tickets are $5 per film.
