Morgan (an award-winning author, a 2024 MacArthur Fellow and a professor at New York University) and Donnamarie Barnes (Director of History & Heritage at Sylvester Manor) bring their extensive expertise to uncover the hidden narratives of African American families on Long Island.

Scene Study Class taught by NFAC Founder and Executive Director, screenwriter, director, producer and actor Tony Spiridakis, and NFAC Advisory Board Member, actor and director Georgia Ciaputa.

Screenwriting Class taught by Tony Spiridakis. This workshop will include lectures, exercises, which will result in the completion of the first draft of a short film (5 to 10 pages in length). This is for anyone who wants to brush up on the fundamentals of screenwriting. You will learn about story structure, character development, relationships and arcs, understanding the flow of scenes, and most importantly, you will have tools to know how to find a story that's worth telling.  This 5-week class is limited to 10 writers.

Ajamu Kojo – GREAT AMERICANS: Selected Paintings (2013-2024)

Join us for the opening of Brooklyn artist Ajamu Kojo’s solo show on view February 8 - March 10, 2025. The exhibition showcases portraits celebrating Black excellence in American history, featuring the notable "A Portrait of George Washington and His Slaves," which previously debuted at the 2024 Delta Triennial. Kojo employs the Mischtechnik to create compelling narratives that challenge traditional perspectives on American greatness.
