WHAT
Screenwriting Class taught by Tony Spiridakis. This workshop will include lectures, exercises, which will result in the completion of the first draft of a short film (5 to 10 pages in length). This is for anyone who wants to brush up on the fundamentals of screenwriting. You will learn about story structure, character development, relationships and arcs, understanding the flow of scenes, and most importantly, you will have tools to know how to find a story that's worth telling. This 5-week class is limited to 10 writers.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Tony Spiridakis is an award-winning filmmaker with nearly four decades in the industry. His latest film "Ezra," starring Bobby Cannavale and Robert De Niro, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and releases nationwide in May 2024. He currently serves as consulting producer on MGM+'s "Earth Abides" and is adapting the memoir "Hello Darkness, My Old Friend" for Wayfarer Studios. His notable works include "Queens Logic" with Kevin Bacon and "Ash Tuesday" with Giancarlo Esposito. He co-created several TV series including Fox's "The Heights" with Eric Roth and has collaborated with acclaimed directors like Stanley Kubrick. A passionate educator, Spiridakis founded the North Fork Arts Center and co-founded the Manhattan Film Institute, which has produced hundreds of short films and mentored emerging filmmakers.
